Betty Mariner

BETTY MARINER - cHAIR/tHRIFT sTORE dIRECTOR

Betty is a retired ESL teacher and administrator. She and her husband Peter were long-time foster parents in the Richmond, VA, area, in addition to raising their two biological children. The couple moved to the Shore in 2001 and became members of St. George's Episcopal Church. By 2004, Peter was serving as church Treasurer, and Betty joined the church’s women's group, eventually becoming President and then Convocation President. Later she became active in the Diocesan ECW, serving as Treasurer for four years. Both Peter and Betty have been active on the Habitat of Humanity Board; Betty served one term as President and ran their small garden tour. After nine years with Habitat, Betty left to serve on the Literacy Board, where she helped with tutoring and teaching and served one term as President. Betty has been Director of Dos Santos Food Pantry for four years.

Stacy Rhodes - secretary/awac coordinator

Stacy is a resident of Chincoteague, VA, who spent 40 years in public service positions. He primarily worked in six developing countries (including Bolivia, Haiti, and Guatemala) as a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Assistance Agency (USAID) and with the Peace Corps. In addition to his role with Dos Santos and AWAC, Stacy serves on the board of the non-profit organization, Global Communities, which delivers essential solutions to complex challenges at the intersection of humanitarian assistance, sustainable development, and financial inclusion. He is an active grandfather of five.

sergio flores - Treasurer/pantry director

Sergio has been a trusted Dos Santos volunteer since moving to the Shore from Paso Robles, CA, in 2016. Raised in a single-parent home with five siblings, Sergio experienced food insecurity as a child and teenager. “Now, as an adult,” Sergio says, “God has blessed me, and it’s in my heart to help address the ugly face of food insecurity in my community.” In recognition of his years of dedicated effort and compassionate support of Dos Santos clients, Dos Santos awarded Sergio the 1st Annual Angel Award in 2022. In addition to his leadership at Dos Santos, Sergio is a member of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Shore Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ESCADV).
